A great project week at Andersen Grundschule (Andersen Primary School) came to an end on 3rd June 2022! The 5th grade children spent five days dealing with the exciting topic of "children's rights". With a variety of playful methods, they learned about their own rights and what it can be like when these rights are restricted. A special moment of the week was a video exchange with pupils of the Karagea Pre- and Primary School from Omurushaka in Tanzania! The children from both countries were able to ask many questions and exchange ideas about children's rights.
In the second half of the project week, the children were finally allowed to become active themselves: They composed their own song including a music video and produced a film about children's rights. Take a look - you can find the results at the bottom of this page.
"Wir wollen kleine Klassen,
die uns super lernen lassen.
Zwingt ihr uns zum Arbeiten,
werden wir unser Recht erstreiken.
Recht auf Freizeit, Recht auf Familie,
Recht auf Glaube, Recht auf Ruhe!"
(We want small classes
that allow us to learn better.
If you force us to work
we will fight for our rights.
Right to leisure, right to family,
Right to faith, right to rest!)
With camera and microphone, the students went through their neighbourhood and interviewed people passing by: Which children's rights do you know about? How many children are affected by child labour? How many companies still allow child labour? And what can we do about it?
This project week was sponsored by Engagement Global with funds provided by the Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development).
