In autumn 2022, an exciting project week came to an end at the Wilhelm von Humboldt Gemeinschaftsschule (Wilhelm von Humboldt Community School). The pupils from different learning groups explored a complex and highly relevant topic that many will be familiar with: climate change! Through imaginary journeys, games and discussions, the children learned a lot about the consequences and causes of the climate crisis and even calculated their own ecological footprint.
A special highlight was a video exchange with peers from Uganda! The children were able to ask each other questions about their hobbies and realities of life and also learned how climate change is affecting different parts of the world.
Finally, the pupils were able to be active and creative themselves! In the last days of the project week, the children transformed what they had learned into creative learning media: they composed a climate change rap, designed games and drew their own comics. You can find a selection of the results here on this page - enjoy reading, listening and playing!

Trees help us to stop climate change: a fully grown tree absorbs about 20kg of CO2 per year. But zombies are trying to cut down our rainforest! Protect the forest and try to shoot down the zombies.
This game was created in the regular workshops following the project week and allows you to dive into the natural ecosystem: as a frog you have to defend yourself against your natural enemy, the snake! Choose your tactics: Freeze, escape or fight back?
This project week was sponsored by Engagement Global with funds provided by the Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development).
