Understanding and Preserving Biodiversity!

In the week of 24-28th of April 2023, our project week "Preserving biodiversity!" took place at Wilhelm von Humboldt Gemeinschaftsschule (Wilhelm von Humboldt Community School). The children were able to see and touch rare insects brought by the educator, watch films on the topic of biodiversity and discuss the content of the films as well as how everyone can actively contribute to the preservation of biodiversity.

The highlight was an excursion to the learning biotope called "Metamorphosium" at Plötzensee in Berlin Wedding. In a photo rally game, the children were encouraged to discover many different and rare insects, reptiles, amphibians and arachnids and photograph them with their iPads. In this way, the children were incidentally introduced to the important task of mapping animal populations.

During the last three days of the week, the children created comics and a great song themselves.
